Monica Wood, principal/CEO of MWPR, Inc., recently worked for
Golin/Harris International as account group supervisor in their Arlington, VA
office. For five years she co-managed one of Golin/Harris' largest and longest
tenured corporate consumer clients-McDonald's. Ms. Wood also played a key role
in the development of Golin/Harris’ Diversity Specialty Practice and has extensive experience in reaching the African American market through earned media relations programs.
Prior to joining Golin/Harris in 1999, as a senior account executive, Ms. Wood built a career managing marketing programs, communications and special events for major retailers, publishing and advertising companies, including The Rouse Company headquartered in Columbia, MD and The AFRO-American Newspaper Company headquartered in Baltimore, MD. As director of promotions and charities for the AFRO, Ms. Wood developed and executed promotions and marketing campaigns highlighting the AFRO’s rich history within the African American community to its readers and to the general market. As promotions director, she created, produced and hosted the AFRO’s weekly public affairs talk show – “AFRO Tuesday Edition” on Morgan State University’s radio station WEAA 88.9 FM.
A third generation graduate of Morgan State University, Ms. Wood holds a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Speech Communications. She sits on the Board of the Washington
DC
Chapter
of Black Public Relations Society and is a member of the National Association
of
Female Executives, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Public Relations
Society of America (Multicultural Communications Section).
